Where to Play Pickleball in Swampscott

• Swampscott Middle School, 207 Forest Avenue, hosts the town's seasonal adult pickleball clinics on its outdoor courts. These are registered recreation classes, not daily walk-up open play. The school complex has six tennis courts, and the pickleball clinics use a temporary court setup for instruction and games.

Pickleball Lessons and Beginner Clinics

New Swampscott players should start with the town recreation clinics at Swampscott Middle School when registration is open. The adult program runs in multiweek blocks and builds from controlled hitting into volleys and games. Instruction covers technique, court position, shot choice, serving, and common terms such as the kitchen. This gives a first time player a structured introduction before joining open play.

The JCC of the North Shore also offers private and small group lessons for members and nonmembers. Its slower play sessions are useful after the basics, since they give developing players more time to set up points and learn the rotation. Open Play and Organized Pickleball

Swampscott Recreation schedules adult clinics in summer blocks at the middle school. The 2026 program included Monday sessions in July followed by Monday and Saturday choices in August. Each clinic combines instruction with supervised games. Future sessions are posted in the same town registration system.

The JCC of the North Shore provides the most consistent nearby open play calendar. Its outdoor summer schedule includes morning adult open play for players around the 3.0 level throughout the week, plus slower play, family play, and advanced sessions.
